Guadalmina South Golf Course. One of the most established golf courses in the Costa del Sol, the resort offers two impressive courses, the pick of them being the superb South course.
The Guadalmina Sur ( South Course ) is the oldest on the complex and is renowned for being quite difficult in places, which makes it ideal for the higher handicappers.
This course was designed by the ever present Javier Arenas in 1959 and offers the golfer some stunning holes as it flows around the exclusive Guadalmina urbanisation located just five minutes drive from Marbella.
Guadalmina South Golf Course (Spain)
The championship layout has a wonderful mixture of challenging holes couples with stunning scenery located next to the Mediterranean sea. The fairways are long and well protected with quite small greens in comparison and are a stern test for even the most skilled players. Straight shots are required throughout the round to bypass the old well established trees to line yourself up for the all important second shot.
One of the signature holes is the impressive 11th, one of the finest Par 3s on the Costa del Sol as it rims the Mediterranean sea along the beachfront, if you manage to bypass the large bunker you will be greeted by a superbly contoured and elevated green.
The 14th can challenge even the lowest handicappers as tall pines line the hole, there is a strategically placed bunker in front of the green, waiting to swallow up anything short.
Guadalmina has a very good sized membership base along with its own hotel on site so it is advised to book your tee times early.
