Atalaya Park Old Golf Course (Spain)

At 6142m in length, this tree- lined parkland type course sports wide fairways, fast elevated greens and several water hazards. There is no major undulation in the first part of the course but the second half winds slightly higher up into the foothills of the surrounding hills.

The versatile tees and smooth playing surface make it an enjoyable and achievable round for all handicaps.
The multi lingual golf school has one of the largest practicing courses in Spain and offers 3 and 5 day intensive training courses for those who want to combine improving their game and techniques with a little luxurious living. The training area has a large driving range, six pitching areas and 3 putting greens for players to work on all angles of improvement. Clubs, trolleys and buggies are all available to rent.

The Pro Shop won’t disappoint the most avid golfer and the restaurant, snack bar and Ryder Cup bar all offer superb comfort for after game relaxation and socializing with breathtaking views of the Rock of Gibraltar, the African coastline and the sparkling Mediterranean.

The 18 hole New Course was designed by Paul Krings and opened in 1992 and according to the experts is a genuine test even for established players, considerably more challenging than it’s sister the Old Course. It begins deceptively straightforward around the flat fairways of the Old Course and then winds up into more difficult hilly terrain before wandering down again to the lower levels of the Old Course.

The narrow sloping fairways and several lakes of the New Course will test all player’s drive and ball placement skills. The Bermuda fairways are lined with fragrant wildflowers and gorse bushes and much of the New Course looks back onto the dramatic outline of the La Concha mountains.

The chalet style clubhouse is a welcome site on the home run of the 18th hole and offers luxurious changing and showering facilities as well as a wonderful terraced bar and restaurant where top local and international cuisine can be sampled.
